Laptop Not Charging? Charger, Adapter & Charging Repair in Ho Chi Minh City
Your laptop won’t charge, shows "plugged in, not charging", or only runs while the cable is connected? VNIT diagnoses the real cause — charger/adapter, DC jack charging port, battery or charging circuit — for the expat community across Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). We explain the fault in plain English, give you a written quote before any work, and offer on-site visits or free pickup in District 1, 2 and 7.
A laptop that won’t charge almost always has one of four causes: the charger/adapter and its cable, the charging port (DC jack), a worn-out battery, or the charging circuit on the motherboard. The trick is finding which one — replacing a battery won’t help if the real problem is the adapter or a broken charging IC. We inspect the device thoroughly, in order, and tell you the actual fault and the cost in plain English before any work starts. The diagnostic inspection is free; you only pay if you approve the repair. We work on all major Windows brands (Dell, HP, Asus, Acer, Lenovo, MSI), and board-level charging-circuit repair is done in-house.
Charging symptoms we fix
No charging light at all
You plug in the charger and nothing happens — no charging light, the laptop doesn’t recognise power.
"Plugged in, not charging"
The charging light is on but the battery percentage won’t go up — Windows shows "plugged in, not charging".
Battery drains while plugged in
The battery keeps dropping even with the charger connected.
Only runs on the cable
The laptop only works while plugged in and shuts down the moment you unplug it.
Intermittent charging
It charges only sometimes — you have to wiggle the cable or the connector to make it work.
Why a laptop won’t charge — the four causes
1. Charger / adapter & cable
A weak, damaged or wrong-spec adapter or charging cable — the most common cause, and the least expensive to fix.
2. Charging port (DC jack)
A loose, broken or poorly-contacting charging port on the laptop.
3. Worn-out battery
A battery at the end of its life, with reduced capacity or a damaged battery circuit.
4. Charging IC / main circuit
A failed charging controller or a broken charging path on the motherboard — the most complex fault, and where our board-level work matters.
