Reset an Epson WorkForce (WF) printer reporting a full waste ink pad / maintenance box
Updated 2026-07-07 · VNIT — 10 years repairing printers & laptops · Nationwide support
The Epson WorkForce (WF) line — A4/A3 office machines with ADF and duplex — handles waste ink a little differently from the home L line: many models use a maintenance box with its own code, and some have a chip. Here is how to work out how your WF machine should be handled.
How does the WF line handle waste ink?
Unlike many L machines that keep the pad inside the body, most WorkForce units use a removable maintenance box by code (for example T6711, T6710, T6715, T6716, C9344… depending on generation). When it fills, depending on the model you either reset the platen pad counter and/or replace the maintenance box with the correct code. Some WF-C units (like the WF-C5290) use a hard-locked chip box — see hard-locked box.
Common WF models
- WF A3 / photo: WF-7830, WF-7840, WF-7210, WF-7710… (removable maintenance box).
- WF A4 office: WF-2830, WF-2850, WF-3720, WF-3730, WF-4630, WF-4740…
- WF-C (high-end pigment): WF-C5290, WF-C5790, WF-C878… — many use a chip box.
Read the Maintenance Box Code on the machine, or send your model on WhatsApp so VNIT can confirm the box code and the fix.
Reset or replace the box?
- Reset the counter: for the platen pad and models that reset in software — gets the machine running again.
- Replace the maintenance box: when the box is truly full, a new box (at 0%) is the clean fix — the printer recognises it, no further reset needed.
- Hard-locked chip: re-activate the chip / fit a new chip / replace the box by the correct code.
VNIT supports the WF line
VNIT resets the waste ink counter remotely on WF models that support software (From 150,000₫ (~US$6), pay only after it prints again) and advises the correct maintenance box code to replace when needed. Send your model and a photo on WhatsApp for a quick confirmation. See the remote reset service.
