How to reset an Epson printer with the Adjustment Program (AdjProg)

When an Epson printer reports a full waste ink pad, one of the most talked-about reset tools is the Adjustment Program (AdjProg for short). It is the service software that takes the waste ink pad counter back to 0%. This guide explains how AdjProg works, the reset steps, and the important precautions that keep you out of trouble if you do it yourself.
What is the Adjustment Program?
Adjustment Program (AdjProg) is Epson's model-specific service software used to calibrate the printer — including a function to reset the waste ink pad counter to 0%. Unlike the WIC Reset Utility (which needs a paid key each time), many AdjProg builds for older models take the counter straight to 0%.
The key point: AdjProg is not a single build that runs on every machine. Each model (or model group) has its own build. Using the wrong build may fail to reset or cause further errors — so this is not something to do at random.
The steps to reset the counter with AdjProg
The general process on a Windows computer connected to the printer:
- Step 1 — Get the correct AdjProg build for your model. This is the most important step; the wrong model means it is wrong from the start.
- Step 2 — Connect the printer over USB and power it on. Leave it in a ready state (not in a paper-jam error).
- Step 3 — Open AdjProg → choose “Particular adjustment mode”.
- Step 4 — Select “Waste ink pad counter” → click “Check” to read the current count (confirming the right machine and its real status).
- Step 5 — Tick “Main pad counter” → click “Initialization”. The software takes the counter to 0%.
- Step 6 — Power the printer off and on, then print a test page. If the lights stop flashing, you are done.
Important precautions when using AdjProg yourself
- It must be the right build for the model. The L3110 build will not work on an L3210; the wrong build often throws errors or fails to detect the printer.
- Cracked builds are illegal and dangerous. Epson enforces licensing heavily, so using a cracked/pirated AdjProg is copyright infringement; these “100% free” files also often carry malware that can steal data or damage the printer. Use a licensed tool or let a technician handle it.
- Not every model has an AdjProg.
